How Coupon Helped Me?

As a college student, the idea of saving money is always in the forefront of my mind; how to find free meals and clothes, optimizing sales and special offers, and making use of coupons are strategies I use to stretch the purchasing power of every dollar. Coupons have become a permanent part of our economy ever since the first ones were printed in Atlanta Georgia by the Coca-Cola Company as a means of getting people to try their product. Now, over 120 years after they printed their first coupons, I attend school just down the road from the Coca-Cola headquarters where the idea of a coupon as the simple yet elegant marketing tool we know it as today. Coupons are vouchers given to consumers that allow them to purchase a certain product or service at a reduced price, the actual coupon itself is completely free. In order to use coupons to receive discounts, the consumer can download and print the coupons using their computer, clip coupons found in newspapers, magazines, store flyers, and coupon books, or sent in the mail. Then the consumer simply takes the coupon to the retailer who takes it and redeems it for the value that is printed on it.

Students, or anyone who is looking to save money, can find coupons incredibly useful for saving money, especially on the most essential items. Companies put out coupons for items they know the consumers want or need, therefore encouraging people to use to coupons and go purchase the desired item. When money is tight, it is important to purchase only things that are essential, and to get the best quality for the best price. Often, in an effort to live cheaply one sacrifices quality for price, often resulting in disappointment in the item being purchased, or customer dissatisfaction. Coupons provide the opportunity for the consumer to purchase items at a fairer price without sacrificing quality. An intelligent consumer will take advantage of everything they can and will think out their purchases. Is the item a necessity? How long will it last? What benefit can be received from the item, or is there a way to get it cheaper?

The sacrifices and effort made to save money now will pay of later on. In college, saving a few pennies on everyday necessities means having more money later to pay for food, books, tuition, housing, and many other assorted living costs that could come up. Having that money, and putting it towards your college expenses means less debt, and less to worry about in the future. It is not easy to save, so it is important to take advantage of deals, sales, and coupons. Coupons give you an opportunity at no cost other than a few moments of your time to cut out and collect them to make your money go further. When used properly, coupons can result in a measurable amount of savings and it could be the little bit extra you need to get by, to pay for food, or get that text book. Think over purchases and decide what is truly important, always be on the lookout for special offers, apply for coupon mailing lists, look online for deals and coupons for items that are needed, and search for them in newspapers and other media. Companies put coupons out there to promote the purchase of certain products, why not take advantage of them and get more for less.
